Default Google Shuffle Early 2007 Edition

So there appears to be a google shuffle going on. I looks like more than the normal everflux that Matt loves to talk about.

Here is great piece - the comments are pretty interesting from Aaron's SEO Book Blog: http://www.seobook.com/archives/002070.shtml

Also alot of chatter on WMW: http://www.webmasterworld.com/google/3261715.htm is just one example.

I can't really tell of many patterns with Google it is so hard to tell. But the usual advice still holds true - links, links, links, links, quality link and a sprinkle of good content.

Actually have great content or service so you don't depend on the search engines is the best way to go.

Default Google Kettle Theory

Pretty interesting theory by Ku Dang about the latest change within google. It does seem partly true. He calls it the Google Kettle Theory. Read about it here:

http://seo-uk.newsvine.com/_news/200...-kettle-update

It does seem Google is playing with some filters and it is around links. Not sure about the age of links but perhaps more about link placements on a page. I have seen one of my pages go in and out of Google and all of the links are not in-context links but side bar type of links. Nothing conclusive - just an observation.

So it still continues. One of my sites is still going in and out of Google's index. Strange. It is like they are restarting the clock every couple of days.

Here is a visual of one site that I have with one of the keywords that has encountered this fluctuation. I am using SEO Elite if you are curious to keep track of my rankings.

I think this is an interesting theory from WMW:

Interesting, I was just wondering whether the location of the link was a factor in this...

Two separate tests I did showed that in one instance a site was EOSed for a phrase that was in the title, h1, alt, etc, but was not EOS for a synonym phrase that was not included in those on-page elements. In the second test, the reverse occured, with a site getting EOSed on a phrase that didn't occur in the elements, but was fine for the phrase that did occur in the elements. Everything else about these sites was held constant as possible, for control purposes.

I'm now conducting a test on location of links -- it has very disturbing implications for people that want to employ some SEO sniping. Footer links are not looking good right now, from the preliminary results.
