Default Why Profiling is Great for SEO ...

While profiling is not that great for those of you from um the middle east who have to fly often... remember it is random. Right?

Anyway, a couple of weeks ago I did see a friend of mine get randomly selected. And yes she was from the middle east. I was thinking that profiling is one way to approach the the search engines. Why? Because, if you can get your new site or purchased site to fit the profile of high ranking sites, well you my friend have done more than most of the high paying SEO consultants out there. And there are plenty of tools out there to help you. I'll put up a list that I use in a few days.

The problem that I find with most generic SEO advice is that it doesn't always fit across all categories. And yes I do believe that (1 ) having great content or (2) having a great service is important. But I think that it should be assumed that there are a bunch of other factors affecting ranking for search engines. Is domain age most important? Quality links? Quantity of links? Number of pages? There are lots of factors but I think you could for now boil it down to: (1) age of the domain, (2) Number of Links, (3) Quality of Links and (4) Quality of Site.

Quality of site? Yup. I really do think the SE will need to better understand -if they don't do it already to a degree- how long a visitor stays at a site, returning visitors, bookmarks, perhaps what % are clicking on ads (to determine if it is a spammy site), etc. Linking, deep linking, cross linking at one point cannot always be the major factor to determine rankings. There are many out there building network of sites - some of decent quality - in order to obtain "unnatural" links back to their money sites. Or, using link baiting to gather lots of links back to their site. You need to make a quality site that you would want to visit and hang out at. Make a quality site and then go after the other bits (or purchase an aged domain and it will speed up the entire process).

By the way, if do you this little research upfront, you may find that the niche you are after is impossible unless you are willing to part a lot of money to get an established site / domain. Does this take work? Yes - most businesses require lots of hard work and effort to succeed. Follow your niche or market daily and execute on a plan to fit the profile and you will find success.
