I found out about http://www.blogrank.net last year, and I think it's an interesting concept that Joe came up with to make the blog directory more fun/interactive.

You can submit your blog for free, along with a 88px by 31 px button. You add the blogrank "rank me" button on your blog page, and every time a visitor clicks on it, (I think Joe uses a cookie to try and keep people honest) it registers a hit for your blog.

Your blog text link and short description (plus button if you submitted one) shows up on the list according to the number of hits you have.

The interesting concept is that BlogRank reranks every hour
& resets all votes every 5 days.

I have thought about adding this as a service too at Branica. I know that script that he seems to be using. I'll consider it down the road - just need to think how to drive people to that part of the site.
