you read that right, Google is trying to build real AI. The worlds most dominant online company, with the largest conglomeration of computing power the world has ever seen, is trying to build artificial intelligence, and according to Page it isn’t that far away either. ... true artificial intelligence not only has serious ethical and moral implications, self aware intelligence may also not be controllable, after all it thinks for itself and makes decisions based on that reasoning, as we all do.

It is a good news that google is doing research on AI.

I cannot aggree that self-aware AI cannot be controlled. How the AI works depends on how it is programmed. It is quite possible to make it not to do harmful things. I mean we can impose restrictions as it is our creature

Artificial intelligence means different things to different people. Traditionally, people had in mind in the inception of the field that they were building computer systems that are as intelligent as a human. The goal was to strive toward human intelligence.
