Update:

It looks like the code needs some fine tuning. All of the "&" needs to be replaced with "&". I'll need to adjust the code for this. I just tried but it still comes back as just "&". Hopefully to be resolved by next week.

What's the latest on valid code? I switched to one version you had posted in mid-February that did validate, (which apparently made me ineligible for the contest?) and now this current version doesn't validate...

There is a problem with the code that validates. It doesn't collect any data other than the number of hits. BTW, it did not invalidate you from the contest 8) unless you took out the sponsor's link.

I am trying to figure out a workaround but it is not looking good right now. I am going to work on it for the next couple of weeks but this will impact source code so it is not going to be quick and I am not sure if it is possible. Sorry - I was hoping to provide XHTML compliant code :cry: .

The only reason I said that was because the email message said no one else qualified with correct code on their pages. Since the only thing I had changed in the original version of the code was the amerpsands to get it to validate, and then I used your supplied code that did validate, I figured I was disqualified because I hadn't updated to the newer non-validating code... Maybe I just misunderstood the email.

No problem, I'm not a programmer but I understand how difficult it is to write software. I work for a software development company and have seen how frustrating it is to try to track down and fix a bug or two!

I have added the newest version of the code on my page, even though it breaks the validation. It's not like I'm gonna be punished for not having valid XHTML code or anything!

Yeah, I just sent another email ops: to clarify. I hate sending out more than one a month. We all get too much spam.

I am going to keep trying but I have put back the old code for now. You should check your stats to see that you are getting some valid data over the next couple of days.

Can you post your code when you get a chance so I can validate that everyone else is getting the same code? Thxs!

This is what I just got from the Control Panel about 30 minutes ago...

Code:
<table><tr align="center"><td>
<a href="http://www.branica.com" target="_blank">
[img]http://www.branica.com/counter.php?i=1171[/img]<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
var data, p;
var agt=navigator.userAgent.toLowerCase();p="http";
if((location.href.substr(0,6)=="https:")||(location.href.substr(0,6)=="HTTPS:")) {p="https";} data = "&r=" + escape(document.referrer) + "&n=" + escape(navigator.userAgent) + "&p=" + escape(navigator.userAgent)
if(navigator.userAgent.substring(0,1)>'3') {data = data + "&sd=" + screen.colorDepth + "&sw=" + escape(screen.width+ 'x'+screen.height)};
<!--
 var tr = document.getElementById("tracking");
 tr.setAttribute("src", tr.getAttribute("src") + data);
-->
</script>
</a><font size="1">Counters
</font>
</td></tr></table>
I'll watch my stats for the next few days to see if things look like they are working correctly with this version of the code!

Thanks!
