Google AdSense is a program designed to help website owners earn advertising revenue. AdSense places advertisements on website owner's sites, targeting their specific audience. In addition to earning money by allowing advertisements on websites, owners can earn additional monies by placing the Google Search Engine Bar on their site, which will generate ads caused by visitor's search results. Website owners get paid anytime visitors search and click on advertisements.

I started using Google Adsense in about 2002 on a Dance Forum, and at the time I was able to bring in nearly $1000/month and it was one of the things that helped me to quit my day job. Now I actually make a lot less per month (less than half), but I am still very happy about the thousands of dollars I have made over the years.

More recently, I have been running some of my own ad campaigns too, and find that to be the best adsense alternative. That said, I still think adsense can play an important roll in developing monthly income.
