I have to be honest that initially that I didn't get Spotify. It was just another music subscription service like Rhapsody. And I already had iTunes and a subscription to Pandora. So why get yet another similar service (YASS)?
What prompted me to start thinking about Spotify was its offline mobile phone capabilities. I travel a bit and when I am overseas Pandora can't be used. I love Pandora when I am working out to get a mix of music that I like and hear different songs. So it was becoming a pain and would be fairly expensive to get a nice mix of music while running using just iTunes - for me anyways.
So I decided to try out Spotify and I have to say that once I figured out that I could playlists easily imported to Spotify and synchronized with my phone. I fell in love with Spotify. The amount of music that I can hear is awesome and have been listening / discovering music that I would not have heard without Spotify.
I still use Pandora when exercising in the US and will continue to use it for now. I tend to use a mix of Pandora and Spotify when I am bound to my chair working. But Spotify has released a preview release of their desktop that has a Radio feature like Pandora. Very cool and no limits on how many times you can skip over a song - Pandora limits you to 8 song skips and 100 stations. Spotify allows you unlimited stations but I don't see this as a big improvement. I have definitely hit the skip limit on Pandora a few times. I am trying out the radio feature on Spotify it is really awesome! Once it is available on the mobile version. I will most likely drop Pandora.
I would recommend trying out Spotify for sure! Download it here:

It is free with some limits. I am using the premium edition since I love to use it on my phone while I am running.
Happy listening!
