Default Chitika Premium

Well I just tried this newer product (released early 2008) instead of adsense for an electronics site that I have. And again, I am disappointed with the results. I always get $.11 per click with may be good for some but is dramatically lower than Adsense in terms of per click and CPM. Also I just checked most of their "case studies" and most have dropped Chitika from their sites.

What a disappointment but I guess it is to be expected. My recommendation is to stick with Adsense instead of Chitika.

Hi Branica - Ryan from Chitika here. Sorry that you didn't have a great experience with our ads (I have no idea how you had them implemented).

But you also mentioned that "most of their 'case studies' have dropped Chitika from their sites."

On our testimonial list, which are you referring to that have "dropped us"? I am pretty sure that the vast majority of these publishers (if not all of them) still run our ads.

Edit: Also - you mention to "stick with Adsense instead of Chitika." Why use just Adsense? Most of our publishers run us together with Adsense (about 99% of our pubs do this) and by far most of them are earning more revenue by using both together. Why limit yourself and earn less?

Ryan,

I happened to check out two sites that are not using Chitika:

CD (Certificate of Deposit) Rates, Money Market Rates, High Interest Savings Accounts and AXcessNews.com - Late Breaking News Headlines (AXcess News gave a great testimonial but is not using it on their site which I guess is fine since they are a reporting agency.)

Unless I am missing something. Please let me know!

In terms of running both, it just didn't fit into my site that I was testing it on - too many ads. But I do see your point. This is just my experience with Chitika and I am sure that it may work for others. However, I still think in general Adsense does provide a better platform, ads and montenization compared to Chitika.

Ah - yes Bankaholic.com was recently acquired by another company (for $12 million!), but I'd like to note that the original owner still runs our ads across the rest of his financial network.

The other site you checked was Axcessnews - they are a popular marketing news site - they have never actually run our ads, but rather report on popular advertising trends/happenings in the industry. This should actually be under our "Press" section rather than "testimonials" - good catch!

Yeah I read about Bankaholic! No bad for them

Ryan - I'll try Chitika along with Adsense on another site to see how it goes in terms of overall revenue. I'll report back once I get some results.

Yeah $12 million is not too shabby

Sounds great - if you want me to take a look at the site and give you some suggestions on how to best implement, just shoot me over a link (here, or via PM, or email).
