Question PLR Articles - Are they Worth It?

I belong to a plr monthly membership and the service while not exactly cheap has started to finally produce some results for me. Not a ton yet but here is a Excel screen shot of that has recently - after about 60 days. I will not disclose the exact formula for my current results but I hope it lasts . And yes I am not sure if this will have a long life in Google (and over 90% of the traffic is from Google right now) but I hope it does cross over to MS & Yahoo. I do hope it continues though!

One part of the site has generated unreal per click revenue but I expect to this to settle down after a few days. Why? I don't know just a gut feeling.

And NO I did not bother rewriting the articles at all .

I haven't exactly recoup my costs in the plr monthly membership just yet but I hope after 30 days that I will if this pace continues. I just added some more articles so let's see how much the site grows in terms of traffic and revenue.

I'll keep this updated every few weeks unless something unusual happens.

Default Latest Traffic Stats

So far no real duplicate content penalty. However some of the rankings of the terms are dropping. I haven't really focused on getting large amount of backlinks so we'll see how traffic stacks up in a few months.

I did add another batch of plr articles earlier this month. Here is a snapshot of the traffic:

Not that bad for non altered plr articles!

Here is an update on the traffic. I have added a bunch more article. A total of approx ~220 plr articles.

I have also added a 2 blogs. I am doing one blog for each article set - try to improve some internal linking and indexing. I am closely watching which pages are going supplemental and trying to blog and ping with the pages in the supplemental index to see if I can get them out - so far only 3 articles.

Quick update: Over 7k impressions since Oct - earning about $130 so far. About a buck a day but for Jan the avg earnings per day has been about $2 per day. Not too shabby and more or less pays for my monthly plr membership.

Here is an updated graph that shows how the plr articles are doing:

I have been adding articles at a good clip. Google Indexed Pages: 240 and there is about 60 to 70 pages in the supplemental index. I have some site maps for each pack of article to see if that helps but I think I should expect this level of supplement pages. I will be adding more pages aggressively to see what happens.

Here is the latest update. Unique traffic was up but revenue was down a bit. I have added more articles to try to offset the supplemental page issue that I am seeing:

My avg daily earnings have rosen nicely this month to about $3 per day. So this now is a break even venture (plr monthly subscription + hosting). I expect to be profitable soon.

The most interesting aspect of using PLR articles is that now I can see some really interesting traffic + adsense data for multiple niches. Really surprising to me.

I moved this thread to the affiliate / making money part of the forum since it is really about using the content to make money within the search engines.

Here is the latest graph:

I had to make a few adjustments since I had to deduct some arbitrage testing I was doing (last and this month only) with adwords with the plr content. I didn't make a huge difference but I did subtract the cost and traffic for each month. Even with that some spending on adwords, traffic has been increasing steadily as well as revenue.

I would not submit PLR articles to article directories if that is what you mean. Most PLR content services will not allow this.

Do a bit of re-writing if you are planning to submit them.

I am using PLR articles on one of my sites to generate adsense / affiliate income.
