In terms of the counters, as long as the code is on the page itself the counts from the counters should be fine. You should not have to do anything. The address captured during the signup is just for informational purposes and does not affect what the counter counts.
In terms of changing over the sites, I would just do a 301 redirect and be done with it. But that is my approach, you'll have to measure what you want to accomplish.
