Errrrm..... I can't think of a fruit that tastes similar to Chiku. Okay, think caramel and coffee fusion. It's not like pineapple or mango which has quite a bit of juice. It has that kind of pate texture. Oh texture is a little bit similar to avacado except that Chiku is not as smooth. That's the closest I can find.. if I'm not wrong. The first and last time I ate Chiku was last December.
You know, top quality durians don't actually smell that much and when the season comes, it can be very expensive say.. S$1000 which is about US$600. That was a pretty long time ago. I'm not sure where these good ones come from but I know Thailand durians really do stink alot. Try Malaysian durians. They're not that bad. Wanna learn a trick?
You know your fingers stink alot when you eat durians right.. One way to get rid of the smell is to wash your fingers under running water at the same time rubbing on to a durian seed. Even better, rub the seed onto your fingers individually. That's of course after eating off all the durian flesh.
